Celebrating Community Service

An annual celebration of community service draws record-breaking crowds.

How do you improve an annual event year after year? Montgomery County, Maryland approached Montage with that very challenge.

As well-connected event experts with roots in the local community, Montage lept on the opportunity to shape the county’s annual MLK Day of Service. We shouldered the responsibilities of event planning, recruitment, promotion and sponsorship, freeing the small but mighty staff of the Montgomery County Volunteer Center to focus on their day-to-day duties.

Montage refreshed event branding and created collateral. We recruited new nonprofits to host service projects and reengaged organizations that had participated in the past. By securing in-kind sponsorship, including a DJ, a photographer and signage, Montage also delivered cost savings to the benefit of local causes.

Attendance skyrocketed to a record 3,500 volunteers who lent support to 34 volunteer exhibits and 46 service projects. Now all we have to figure out is how to do even better in 2019!
